Mary Yun is principal of maryyunSTUDIO, a multidisciplinary architecture and design practice centered on project-based creativity. Creative thought and contextual application are the driving forces behind any project, whether developing a commercial office building, designing a new house or remodeling a kitchen. Attention to detail and quality of spatial relationship to light, materials and color are the hallmark of Mary Yun’s projects regardless of scale, scope or budget.
Mary's architectural career spans twenty-eight years beginning with a thirteen-year tenure with Michael Graves and Associates, working on numerous award winning academic, institutional and commercial buildings, including the International Finance Corporate Headquarter's building, Washington, DC, the Denver Public Library, Miele Headquarter's Building, Princeton, NJ, North Campus Masterplan and Martel, Jones and Brown Colleges at Rice University, Houston, TX, and the Dallas Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank in Houston, Texas.
In 2003 after moving to Northampton, MA, Mary began working on residential and small commercial projects, forming a joint venture partnership with Lynn Posner Rice (Rice Yun Architects; 2006-2015). Mary continues to provide comprehensive architectural design services to both residential and commercial clients and strives to bring artistic expression to her all of her projects, regardless of scope or budget.
In addition to her architectural practice, Mary is the President and Executive Director of CLICK, a unique coworking space in Northampton, MA whose mission emphasizes cultural programs and community building events.
Mary received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture at the University of Virginia, and Master of Architecture degree at Princeton University. She resides in Northampton with her husband, composer David Sanford and her two children.
